Re: Not getting Gig1 download speed

What speeds do you get at >> Sam Knows Real Speed << with a direct connection using a Cat 5E or better ethernet cable between the Hub in Router Mode and a 1Gbs capable Pc/Mac/Chromebook and no other devices connected ?

Re: Not getting Gig1 download speed

Take the VM 4.0 hub out of Modem mode and do the test as MikeRobbo suggested directly to the Hub 4.0 - The SamKnows test doesnt work in Modem mode!

The SamKnows test will give you the actaul speed to the Router from Virgin Media and then the speed to you're device over wired connection.

Re: Not getting Gig1 download speed

Hello

When Hub4 is (normal) router mode I get

960Mbps Down

42Mbps Up

Ethernet cables are Cat 7

It’s only when in Modem only Mode does the speed drop to *250Mbps Download [*approx]

Uploads Mbps remains the same

Is that Modem Mode direct to the Hub or through some third party equipment ?

Since you get full speed with the HUB in router mode you need to investigate the issue with your equipment.

Try one device connected directly connected to the HUB in modem mode to confirm the above.

Re: Not getting Gig1 download speed

Hub4 > Tp-link R600 router > computer

same cat 7

252Mbps download

46Mbps Upload

(Router dhcp)

hub4 port 1 out

“Try one device connected directly connected to the HUB in modem mode to confirm the above.”

Cannot connect computer to the Hub4 in modem mode !

‘modem only mode ‘  doesn’t give dhcp

No issues with the R600 Router

Re: Not getting Gig1 download speed

What about HUB4 > Computer?

You can use one device with the HUB in modem mode (The HUB must be rebooted with the new device plugged in as it latches onto the MAC address of the last device to be plugged in prior to reboot).

It doesn't matter what it is, Laptop, PC, router, etc.
