Re: New install speed sub 2

Nothing much wrong with those figures.

How are you measuring the speed?   WiFi speeds are not guaranteed, but should be better than that.

Re: New install speed sub 2

Thanks for looking. I used broadbandspeedcheck and I was getting between 1-2 mb/s.

Randomly in the last hour since I last checked it’s rocketed to 198 mb/s.

Re: New install speed sub 2

But what device were you using to test, and how was it connected to the Hub? If you want a reliable speed test you will need to use a device connected with an ethernet cable.  Wifi tests will give random results.

Re: New install speed sub 2

I was using my phone. Turns out, my phone had switched to 5G on that last test I did hence the high speeds so we’re still on just under 2mb/s.

I don’t have anything that I can connect Ethernet and test, but even WiFi speeds shouldn’t be at 2% of the overall speed, and this is sitting right next to the router!!

Re: New install speed sub 2

As stated above VM will request a wired speed test. So you will need to get or borrow an an Ethernet adapter to use for wired testing.

Re: New install speed sub 2

I’ve borrowed a laptop and nothings changed. Speed test via Ethernet is 1.77 mb/s and 0.44 upload.

ive run the check on VM site and it says there’s an issue and I need to call them.

You could try phoning today, but the best time would be 08.00 in the morning.

Good luck!

Re: New install speed sub 2

Good luck indeed 😂😂😂

After running tests, she said everything is fine and just to monitor it and do a reset. Then wait 7 working days, which would conveniently take me over my cancellation period. She didn’t listen to me, said goodbye and hung up.

I feel like I’ve made a mistake moving to virgin if that’s the level of customer service.
