New Virgin Hub 3.0 v. slow speeds

Moved to a new flat and received a brand new Virgin Hub 3.0 but have 'enjoyed' average wireless download speeds of around 4mbps and under for almost a week now. Called a dozen times, pinhole reset etc. but no luck. Engineer can't come out for another week and every day I don't have internet access I lose work (I'm a freelancer wfh who relies on internet access). Please help! 

I'm tempted to by an Eero mesh wifi router extender but my flat is v. small and not sure this would help or actually address the problem.
