New IP Just Assigned

Internet went off and superhub looked like it went into a bit of a fit with all the lights but after a minute it all came back up and upon inspection it seems I was assigned a new IP address.

How often does this happen?  Modem never goes off for more than 5 minutes usually so this is quite unexpected.

Re: New IP Just Assigned

Hello

From what you have said it looks like Virginmedia have done some work on your local network and have re-segmented the network, this is the main reason you have a different IP address, this doesn't happen often normally only when there is high utilization or network upgrades.

Re: New IP Just Assigned

Mike's correct - mine did the same a few weeks ago. One thing that will need attention is if you are running a BQM it is no longer pinging "your" connection (but the person who inherits that i.p address!) and so settings need changing.

If you dont know what i'm talking about - just ignore me 🙂
