New 1gb install

barrym
On our wavelength

Recently just upgraded from the 500mbps  package to 1gig new hub 5.

PC down speed 750mbps well short of max.
upload speed reaches max ok.

Laptop wi-fi mid 500mbps down up 104 mbps.
Have checked all settings and connections and using quality ethernet cable.

500mbps  package always maxed out no problems.

Broadband was installed more than 10 years ago is the network cable (screw on type) connector
ok compared to the push on connector, does this need to be replaced.

Network log as many faults and errors.

Thanks for reply.

So you are getting the expected speed over the VM network, so it is probably your device at fault.

You should try a speed test in safe mode with networking:

safe mode with networking.

947Mbps is the expected speed for a 1Gbps Ethernet adapter, so there is some software on your device slowing your speeds.

Thanks for your time

Win 10 pro, Firefox browser all drivers working ok

As regards software problems before with a Hub 3 and 500mbpc package never had any problems 520mbps down and 50mbps up constant so was ok before.

Hey barrym, thanks for your posts on our help forums and sorry to see you're having issues with your speeds on a certain device currently.

Many Kudos to our very insightful member carl_pearce that has beaten us to this and offered some helpful advice and troubleshooting steps by the way, we're glad to see you've received some assistance. 🙂

From what we read above, the issue would either be on the device or ethernet cable used since the service speeds look great, as not all can support 1Gig speeds.

Please, use this link here to view more on your hub's specs in general.
Also, could you kindly advise what speeds you're getting on your device using a Cat6 cable and also run a few more tests making sure a) no VPN is active b) while on modem mode?

Let us know how this goes, cheers.

Could it be the network cable from external box
and the internal network cable
These were installed more than 10 years ago
and have the screw on type fitting not push.

Pletny of variance in these tests.

The Samknows test shows full speed into the Hub, so there's nothing wrong with the coax connections.

The speed loss is with your own equipment.
