Massive drops in download and upload speed

Been a virgin broadband user for many years, I have not changed anything recently (haven't touched the router, nor computers). Network speed have started fluctuated massively the last week.

I've been doing some speed tests, (using the same computer, in the the same room).

This is not wifi numbers, but using a ethernet cable.

  • 6am, 200Mbit Down, 20Mbit Up.  (what i expect)
  • 10 am, 3Mbit down, 0.8 Mbit Up.
  • 8pm, 1 Mbit down, 1 Mbit Up. (netflix unusable)

Yes, I've done the pinhole reset.

No improvement.

Same issues ... got no fix yet, at peak times upload is in the kB range 😞

I have exactly the same issue. Yesterday, I managed to hit 0.00Mbps upload on the Ookla speed test...

Likewise my Area 07 - less than 1 Mb up and 1Mb download. Come on guys working from home ceased at these speeds - I pay for at least 50Mb

My guess is that Virgins network is not designed for this kind of aggregated traffic (everybody trying to video-conference from home) and we simply are hitting the limit of the overall traffic in these areas.

Whatever your package is / what speed you should have is irrelevant. 

And, for support to keep telling us to check wifi settings and resetting our modems is also completely pointless (but distracting us from there real issue).
