Major Lag/Latency issues

Hi,

I have hovered around the forum for a while now, but i can no longer deal with the lag that im getting. Me and my son play games like Fortnite/Rocket League/Fall Guys and many other games that require a good ping, and we are permanently getting lag, Rocket League has a permanent warning on the screen about bad latency, packet loss etc.

I have tried to resolve issues of from suggestions on here in regards to Wifi to no improvement, it is defiantly a remote problem.

I setup a BQM a while ago as was suggested, not sure what i was doing, but seemed to get a monitor up, i think this link is the result, and it looks about as bad as you'd expect.

https://www.thinkbroadband.com/broadband/monitoring/quality/share/3a44bbcb31fd8ca4eddcb0874e0e7a9fc6153e1a

Im at a stage now where i need this resolved or i need to change providers.

Could anyone be of assistance here?

Re: Major Lag/Latency issues

It's not good news I'm afraid as your line shows over utilisation.

You can ring Virgin about this with maybe a fix date for the future but to be honest I wouldn’t hold my breath as they have a tendency to apply fix dates only to keep moving them forward and then ending up with nothing being done for months/years

Re: Major Lag/Latency issues

Can you please upload your router stats just in case there may be a fault on the line.

Type 192.168.0.1 or (192.168.100.1 if you have your Hub in Modem mode) into your address bar at the top of your browser

For Hubs 2 & 3 - DO NOT LOG IN, just click “Check Router Status”

For Hub 4 - When the page appears LOG IN then click on:

Advanced Settings > Tools > Network Status.

Please copy and paste the contents of the Downstream, Upstream, Configuration and Network Log tabs, if you get a yellow warning just click the Post button again. You can use more than one post for each item if needed.

If you get a warning when you hit “Post” just hit “Post” again and it should work ok!

Please do not use screenshots

Re: Major Lag/Latency issues

Hi,

Thank you for taking the time to respond, i really appreciate it, please disregard the faults from last night, as these were likely caused by me trying everything to improve the lag

Re: Major Lag/Latency issues

Your router stats looks fine, it's the BQM that tells all, it boils down to over utilisation I'm afraid 😞

Re: Major Lag/Latency issues

I have noticed more Virgin hubs popping up over the last 12 months around where i live.

I will contact them through my account, as its mainly used for gaming and things that need a good response time, im not getting that at all currently.

Like you say, they aren't likely to fix it, as no monetary gain for them, so i may be changing providers.

Thank you for your help
