M500 - but slow throughput < 300 Mbps

Hey, looking for some help..

Joined Ultimate Oomph as a new VM customer last month  and have noticed an issue with BB speeds.

Now, its not the end of the world - perfectly usable - but just want to make sure there isn't an issue somewhere and coming from standard FTTC BB - I'm not too familiar with cable modem/routers and VM stats.  I did have a read around similar topics - as far as I can tell mine seems ok....

wired speedtests come back at 200 - 300 mbps ---only in the first week did they hit 400 - 500 mbps

I have restarted the router - powered off etc but wanted some advice - everything has been checked, nothing loose - al connectors are tight - pings and upload are always ok - just seems to be d/l speeds

Any advice would be welcome.

2 laptops - both gigabit (checked advnace settings) - hardwired

2 ethernet leads both gigabit capable

Re: M500 - but slow throughput < 300 Mbps

Downstream power levels a touch high, but in spec.

Upstream power levels a touch low, but JUST acceptable.

EDIT: Apart from a couple of blips your BQM is perfect:

Re: M500 - but slow throughput < 300 Mbps

Thanks for looking through that for me.
Do you think I will need to call VM for further tests? or next steps.. or is this something that will resolve itself?
cheers

I'm honestly not sure as everything looks ok on the face of it.

When testing wired speeds are you connected directly to the HUB, or via other kit like switches, powerline adapters, etc?

Re: M500 - but slow throughput < 300 Mbps

Yes, all testing connected direct to hub. Tried different laptops, different ethernet cables and different ports on the VM hub. Speeds are always between 200 - 300 Mbps (apart from the 1st week or so when they did hit 400 - 500 Mbps)

Maybe its just an area thing, VM are new to the area and uptake seems high , see VM vans everywhere along with Kelly comms wiring up from the duct to the brown box on homes. I suspose it'll sort itself.

If it gets to less than < 50 Mbps then I'll try get through to VM - at the moment - no issue, perfectly usable.

What speed tests are you using?

Re: M500 - but slow throughput < 300 Mbps

Your stats and TBBQM look really good.

If you don't mind playing about you could try putting the SH into modem mode and connecting one of the laptops directly to it (the port nearest the power connector).

Disconnect all other Ethernet connections and re-boot the SH. (Note that the SH is accessible via 192.168.100.1 when in modem mode)

What speed test are you using BTW?

One other thing is that when I saturate my downstream with a speed test you can see the ping on the TBBQM reach 100ms during the test. I can't see that with yours which suggests you may not be saturating your link.
