M350 Slow - between 30-100Mbs - mainly < 50mb - N14 Area

My Area N14 is experiencing speed issue, neighbours and friends reporting the same.

Its impossible to get through to VM on the phone, can someone please report this as a fault? 

My video calls are breaking up constantly. Ive done all the usual troubleshooting. this is not an issue at my end

Things I've done:

  • Rebooted USG and access points
  • Rebooted Virgin Hub 3 (normally run it in modem mode)
  • reset Virgin Hub 3
  • Run the virgin diagnostic from Virgin Hub 3 and all passed OK
  • Performed an online Virgin check and all passed OK
  • Checked to see if any problems in my area - none reported by Virgin

I have terrible broadband speeds starting beginning on this week.

I'm not getting any response from online support and the phone support just holds and holds, then rings and then you get a "the other person has cleared" message.

So Frustrating

I got through to someone on the phone, (it took 4 days and 3hours of holding - that is not an exaggeration) VM could not find a fault either so the final option was to factory reset the router. It appears that it was not an area issue but a local hardware issue (perhaps an area change was made that bubbled this up as others in my area were also experiencing speed issues at the same time). However I noted lots of "RCS Partial Service;CM-MAC=" issues, before the reset and only 1 since.

Nothing changed at my end so i have no idea what is going, or why a reset is needed.

This is what i did, simple enough, worth a try. (just make sure you have a copy of your default password. mine was on a label on the device)

  • pin in the button on the back hold for 30 secs.
  • Router defaults to the original passwords etc.
  • login with default creds etc
  • change password
  • Check if it fixed your speed issue.
