M350 - Never getting full speeds

Hi,

Getting download speeds ranging from 70Mbps to a max of 235Mbps - but this is on the M350 package.

Upload is consistent, always 30-40Mbps. These tests are via ethernet (straight the the router not powerline) and tests when bandwidth isn't being sapped by people/devices in the house.

I'm never seeing the speeds I should be getting so assume there may be an issue - despite the Virginmedia tests showing things as ok. Happy that I'll never always max out the speed, but it's consistently 100Mbps+ lower than I'm paying for.

Any help appreciated (I work in IT so can followup as necessary).

Thanks,

Sam

Re: M350 - Never getting full speeds

The modem has smart WiFi turned on, basically the modem gets 350mb but then decides how much each devices needs meaning you don’t see speed on the tests. On the settings page you can turn this off to see the speeds but it’s better if it’s on to stop other devices issues

If I've helped in any way, please give me Kudos and mark my response as a helpful answer!

Fancy £50 off your bill? Ask me how and you might just get it!

I am a serving Field Technician at Virgin however all responses on here are based on my experiences in the field alone and my own equipment at home and should be taken as such

Re: M350 - Never getting full speeds

Smart WiFi doesn’t effect Ethernet connections though as per OP’s post...

Plus it’s better to actually have smart WiFi off as it leads to constant device disconnections.

Re: M350 - Never getting full speeds

SNR on the Download is on the low side and the voltages are on the high side on the Upload

It could be balanced out better.  You'll just have to wait until one of the forum team gets around to your post it can take a few days.

Re: M350 - Never getting full speeds

Any ideas on this guys? Continue to have very inconsistent network speeds/experience. Was on Sky broadband 25mb before and I didn’t experience the dropouts like I do now!
