M350 Broadband only getting 85mbps download

Hi,

For about a year my broadband download speed would drop every couple of days from approx 370mbps download to approx 80mpbs (yes this is tested via a wired connection)

I would resolve this by either a router reboot or running the network diagnostic tool on the router admin web page (had a number of fruitless calls to the contact centre to try and address this).

The problem I am now having is neither of the above fixes is working and my download speed is stuck on 85mpbs. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated

What speeds do you get at >>  SamKnows << with a direct connection using a Cat 5E or better ethernet cable between the Hub in Router Mode and a 1Gbs capable Pc/Mac/Chromebook and no other devices connected ?

Then immediately after …

Can you Login to the Hub Settings and navigate to the Connected Devices page - what is the reported 'connection speed’ for the ethernet cable connected device you used for the speed test ?

On a plus note router reboot now get's download speed back to 350mbps (the fact that it didn't is why I raised the case)

On a negative note - back to the download speed dropping to 70-80mbps every few days, with a router reboot or execution of router network diagnostic tool being needed to get it back to 350mbps.

Any ideas anybody ?

If possible can you set up a Broadband Quality Monitor (BQM) at thinkbroadband.com - this will give you an insight into what is happening with the signal at the other side of the Hub, it will take a few hours to get any kind of trend showing although you should post the link straight away.

Please post a 'Live Link' to your BQM on here straight away.

Instructions for posting BQM Live Link

Under your BQM graph are two links in red.

Click the lower link (Share Live Graph) then click generate.

Copy the text in the Direct Link box, beware, there may be more text than you can see.

On here click the Link icon (2 links chain to the left of the camera icon)

In the URL box paste the link you copied and in the ‘text to display’ box write My BQM then click OK - you can post the link straight away.

At the top of the next hour can you try a reboot using this method ...

Switch the Hub off using the small switch on the rear of the Hub next to the power cord and pull the PSU plug from the wall socket.

While the Hub is powered off go around all the accessible co-ax connectors inside and outside to ensure that they are finger tight by slackening off and then retightening.

Give it a good 5 minutes put the plug back in and switch the Hub back on.

Allow the Hub a few minutes to fully restart then see how your BQM looks half an hour later.
