M200 - M500 but not full speed increase

Hi There

So got my upgrade from M200 to M500 at the weekend, but only seeing a 300-350Mb speed as if its M350, the system is in modem mode with a cat6 cable and 1Gb network capability, am i being impatient or should it be fairly instant ?

Usual modem configs look ok? So wondered how I got the other end checked out?

Re: M200 - M500 but not full speed increase

You need to post your configuration details. Once you get the correct configuration file the speed boost applied right away.

Re: M200 - M500 but not full speed increase

The only 'odd' thing with your stats is the large difference between your downstream channel power levels.

Could you please create a BQM (Broadband Quality Monitor) here, and post the live link?

Carl is correct.

The differential between the lowest Downstream Power Level at -0.2dBmV and the highest at +5.4dBmV is far too great.

This will need an engineer to put right.

You can either call in (08:00 is the best time) or wait on here for a few days (6 to 7 days average) until one of the VM Forum Staff comes along.

If you wait on here Do Not bump the thread it will put it further down the VM 'to do list'.

Re: M200 - M500 but not full speed increase

Ok so was hoping that i did not have too go this route but hey,

So after phoning first thing, i chat to a very helpful lady who makes me do all the checks and jumps.

Put it modem mode, boot windows into safe mode, use a cat6 cable all the checks ( I have been doing IT for 30+ years ) highly funny

Putting you though to the engineering team on hold she states that she will sort it etc...

Double check today and get the notification that the minimum guaranteed speed speech is....

I was hoping to upgrade to M600 package I work from home and have 2 uni students who will be streaming all their lectures so thought great idea!

Now to be told that no engineer and suck it up when i have obviously an issue on the cable installation and would like to just get the best performance possible!

I have been polite and not shouted but to be told that my M500 package delivers less than M350 package is pretty disgusting, if anybody from virgin is monitoring this then please contact me to resolve this. First agent was great and helpful, second was the worlds worst agent who had been trained to just argue the toss with the customer expected range is 480-543 happy with any of that and in extreme instances i can understand it might be a bad day and slow to the worst 258 but to be blanket told that i cannot have an engineer is ridculous!

love virgin been great but some of your agents need training! I run a help desk!
