M200 Half speed and packet loss

Hi

I've just switched to M200 and I only seem to be getting M100 speeds.

I'm testing on a Unifi Dream Machine directly connected to the VM modem via Gigabit.

I also am getting dropped packets. I can see I am getting a lot of Post RS errors on one channel.

I've spoken to VM but I'm not getting any sensible responses. Does anyone know how I can get this fixed?

Re: M200 Half speed and packet loss

I've marked for staff to take a look, but you're right there's a specific problem (noise ingress) on downstream channel 3, and given the 227 MHz frequency, the source of the signal is almost certainly DAB radio broadcasting.  That might require a technician visit, but I suggest you disconnect and carefully remake all coax cable connections in the house, with any securing nuts done up finger tight.  If there is one, and you're confident to do so, pop open the brown box on the outside wall and do the same for any coax connections in there.  If there's physical damage to the coax anywhere, or you're using third party cable you bought yourself, then those are other possible causes.

Restarting the hub (or it re-registering after you undo and remake any connections) will take the usual 7 minutes, and that alone might provide temporary relief if the hub doesn't select 227 MHz or a very close frequency, but until the point of ingress is fixed, you will find the problem returns.

Re: M200 Half speed and packet loss

Hi

Thanks for the reply. I've reset the modem and unplugged/replugged the cables.

The cables are new (installed 4 days ago) and relatively short.

Still loads of errors on reboot.

I've given VM a call. They say I need to wait 24 hours before they will do anything 😞

Seems to be getting worse now, only getting 30 Mbps and significant packet loss witch is really affecting Teams calls.
