Latency shown in VMConnect app

My parents virgin media connection seems rather flaky, i did some home scans using the VM Connect app and on the test saw latency of 10000+ ms on the incoming side of the test i.e. from virgin to the hub.

I checked the cabling from the wall box to the hub, all appeared good so rebooted the hub - no difference.

I'm assuming latency that high is not what would be expected ?

Hi martynh99,

Thanks for your post and welcome back to the community.

Sorry to hear that your parents internet is facing issues, can I ask are wired devices also affected?

Also regarding this matter is the latency present when within the same room?

Let us know,

Kain

Have since found out there is a flaw in the VM Connect app and the latency figure is misreported by factor of 1000x so it's around 10ms which is ok.

However their internet over WiFi is very all over the place. They do have a POD extender but that doesn't seem to make any difference. I ran a few speedtests via samknows from my nokia 5.4 and the speeds fluctuated from 40+ Mbps all the way down to 4Mbps and latency quite high. I'll do some more checking next time I visit and update here, i've just looked at the router downstream / upstream stats and these are pasted below

Thanks for providing them details, are you able to also post a BQM?

This will monitor the state of your connection and record any network dropouts etc, here is the link to do so
Give it some time to gather data and then click 'Share Live graph' and paste the 'Direct Link' into the forum for us to review the issues.

The VM Connect app figures for Jitter were also 200x reality and at the point Connect app was ditched.

Try this in a web browser for better results :

https://www.samknows.com/realspeed/

Once the test begins click on: Run full test to see all the stats.
