Latency is ruining my online meetings when WFH.

Since working from home in the last couple of weeks I have noticed that I keep having terrible issues with Teams video meetings.

I have been following the diagnostics suggested on similar posts here and will post my results. I'm on Vivid 200 - although I rarely get much over 100.

Re: Latency is ruining my online meetings when WFH.

Hello

Your downstream power levels are too high on most of the channels they are above the maxium of +10 this is what will be causing the issues, you are going to need an engineer to resolve. You also have some issues with your upstream and would be best to wait for a VM staff member to look into that.

Its unlikely power levels are to blame going by your BQM too many modems causing jitter high ping spikes.

Re: Latency is ruining my online meetings when WFH.

Hello coolamoke

Thanks for your post and I apologise for the various issues you're having with your broadband connection.

Upon looking at things from over here again, I can see that your downstream is in fact out of range. This will require an engineer visit to fix.

I have booked you in with the next available appointment.  Please find the appointment time slot via your online account. This can be cancelled and rearranged from there if needed.

Let me know if there's anything else I can help with.

Re: Latency is ruining my online meetings when WFH.

So the guys visited. I explained the latency issue, and also mentioned the speed - as I had been testing since all this kicked off.

Changed cable ends where necessary. Unfortunately there is a cable between rooms which really needs replacing - as it is not the current standard. They left me the cable to run if it doesn't improve.

That evening the speed was double, i.e. 180. Great.
Unfortunately the latency is now just as bad - despite me having better meetings all week.

Today has been dreadful in meetings. Here's the latest graph (oh the levels are all great now btw).

[url=https://www.thinkbroadband.com/broadband/monitoring/quality/share/30c9ac44a668d93e2de8b9c6976f1...

Looks like I need to try replacing the cable between the rooms now. Will report back.
