Just upgraded to M500 but speed not going above 370 Mbps

Hi,

I have just moved properties and in the process upgraded my M300 package to M500.  I am hardwired in using a cat6 cable.  However my download never seems to be higher than 370Mbps.  See below for router info;

Your stats show you are still on the old package mate 🙂

Best to ring VM on or just after 8am or alternatively you can wait here for a Virgin staff member to pick it up, but this will typically be between 5-10 days, sometimes sooner, sometimes later depending on how busy they are.

My bad, your on the M500 package.

What speed do you get on https://speedtest.samknows.com/ with direct wired connection from PC/Laptop to router using a Cat 5e cable or better with a 1Gbps capable Ethernet network card?

  1. Make sure the cable is Cat 5e or better
  2. Make sure your PC/laptop has a 1Gbps or better network card
  3. Make sure Hub is NOT in modem mode
  4. Disconnect all other Ethernet cables when running the test

this is with the only thing on the network being my laptop directly connected with a cat 6 cable;

it jumps anything between 280s to high 400s and the odd 500 not sure if the high latency has anything to do with it?

Can you please setup a Broadband Quality Monitor (BQM) at thinkbroadband.com. Just click on Create a new monitor.

Post a 'Live Link' to your BQM on here asap.

Under your graph you just created Click (Share Live Graph) then click generate.

Copy the text in the Direct Link box and paste it on here

This will give us an idea of what's happening to your connection mate 🙂

Re: Just upgraded to M500 but speed not going above 370 Mbps

Looks normal enough mate, there's a few spikes here and there and ping level up a bit due to normal load on the network I'm guessing but nothing stands out. I know this sounds like a cliché but have you tried a factory reset. Hold in the pinhole at the rear of the router for at least 50 seconds and then release (the lights will flash while holding in the pinhole reset button after about 10-15 seconds) then allow 5 minutes for the router to reboot and re-sync the connection.

Re: Just upgraded to M500 but speed not going above 370 Mbps

i tried a factory reset yesterday...i know this might be a stupid question but i have only tested wired from a work laptop which is using direct access, would that effect the speed?
