Hub4 in modem mode Gig1 only getting 700-800

Just had hub4 and upgrade to gig1 from m350

now I get inconsistent speeds and as low as 50m Wi-Fi is also an issue , when I was in m350 I had constant 380m both wired and Wi-Fi , all that’s changed is new hub4 and gig1 all other kit has not changed or move

also connection to 192.168.100.1 stops working after a while so can’t get in to look at levels

if I reboot I still can’t get over 800m

what so I need to do

How are you testing, wired connection to speedtest?

What do you get off Sam Knows?
https://samknows.com/realspeed/

Is your device definitely connected to 5GHz and not 2.4GHz? Is the 5GHz using 80MHz channel widths? And so on.

Using Speedtest from wired and from the speed test from within the router connected to hub4 in modem mode deco m5(it has its own)

Yes checking its connected to 5ghz, unsure to the widths

as for Sam knows - it says cannot find router

SH4 needs to be out of modem mode but it'll prove performance with a Sam Knows test.

Speed tests start to get unreliable at higher speeds because they become CPU bound. I tend to get in the 800s Mbps with speedtest, but 940Mbps to my PC via Sam Knows (and 1.1Gbps to the CPE).

Hi,

Its a shame they haven't put 2.5gb port on the superhub 4. They must be planning a superhub 4ax with one shorely.

🤔

Re: Hub4 in modem mode Gig1 only getting 700-800

VM SH are always behind the times, whats the point of a 1Gb service, if the customer cant get 1Gb.

It should be called the 800Mb / 900Mb Service.

The next SH has to have Wifi6 (AX) and a 2.5GB Ethernet port on it.

Intels Wifi6 AX200 card can do a whopping 2.4Gbps in optimal circumstances.

I know it says the SH4 can do 802.11AC wave 2, but as in the past the WIFI on any SH has been beyound useless.

Running on 500Mb VM service with SH3 in Modem Mode, with a ASUS RT-AC5300 router. With this setup I get Fantastic WIRED and WIRELESS Signals in my home. I dont work for VM. But I work in IT, and I know my tech.
My advice is at your own risk. If you are happy with my answers please press Kudo ?

Re: Hub4 in modem mode Gig1 only getting 700-800

I've got a SH4. The way i've set mine up is most devices wired with 1GB switches and cat 6 cables. cat 5 cables gave me around 800mpbs. I have a mesh wireless setup in bridge mode as well. It works well. Wireless is about 4-500 which is ample for phones and laptops. PCs get the top whack 945. You won't get any faster wired due to the network adapters limitations

Re: Hub4 in modem mode Gig1 only getting 700-800

Hi,

Have you checked what speed your devices are actually connected at? If you log in to the hub you should be able to see the max speed these devices are capable of.

It could may well be that your devices aren't capable of reaching 1Gbps and are therefore topping out at 700-800Mbps

Thanks
