Hub4 download speed

Hi,

Need some help, frustration mounting. 🙂

I've upgraded to the Hub4 1Gb a few days ago.

samknows.com/realspeed/ tests consistently give me over 1Gb to the router (Speed to Virgin Media Hub 4). From the Hub4 to any of my PCs and laptops connected directly to the back of any of the 1Gb ports on the Hub4 I'm getting between 80Mb and, if lucky, 200Mb Download speeds. Upload is stable and at the expected speed of 50+Mb.

I've tried everything I can think of. All my cables are rated at CAT 5e, swapped cables, tried different computers, all the machines have 1Gb cards, still the same, all tested directly to the back of the router.

Speedtest Ookla also gives me max 200Mb, this is less than what I used to get with my Hub3.

Any help is appreciated, I am at my wits' end!

Thanks.

Could you access your HUB on http://192.168.0.1 navigate to 'Advanced Settings/Tools/Network Status' and copy/paste, as text, the 'Downstream', 'Upstream', and 'Network Log' tab data, in several posts, clicking 'Post' twice if an error occurs.

Could you alse create a BQM and post the live link?

Re: Hub4 download speed

if you are getting 200 then i would suggest its not the cables - from there i have few ideas - have you tried a full reset of the hub4 - after that different speedtest sites

post the levels from the hub - unlike the hub3 you need to log in

Well it appears you require an engineer visit:

  • SNR is not right.
  • Downstream power levels should be -6 to +10 to be in spec, 0dB being optimal.
  • Your DOCSIS 3.1 channel, that is the tech that allows the full 1Gbps, is also low on power.

-tony-

I've reset the Hub4 a few times already, I'd have mentioned it in the original post. Thanks.
