Hub 4 1Gb - getting 129Mb

Hi all,

Recently upgraded to 1GB hub 4, around two weeks.  For the first few days I got around 700Mb DL and 52Mb UL.  Since then I've been averaging out around 350Mb.

It's 3am now and I'm getting 129Mb, but UL remains stable at around 50'ish Mb.

I've tried resetting the Hub a few times, testing speeds on different sites and devices.

I'm trying over wifi and ethernet (CAT5).but still getting between 129-300Mbps.

Any  help would be appreciated.

This should be QAM 4096, you will need an engineer to put this right. Best to ring VM just after 8am or alternatively you can wait here for a Virgin staff member to pick it up, typically between 5-10 days, sometimes sooner, sometimes later depending on how busy they are.

Also Cat 5 cable is no good as it only supports 100mb, you need to use Cat 5e cable or better!

Re: Hub 4 1Gb - getting 129Mb

Thanks for the reply.  Yes it's a cat5e cable IT gave me from work.

Re: Hub 4 1Gb - getting 129Mb

I take it there's nothing I can do myself in the settings?

I can't have the internet going down completely during the weekday as we're all in meetings and live-lessons.  It will have to be at the weekend.

Have you tried a factory reset to see if it syncs at a better modulation? Hold in the pinhole at the rear of the router for at least 50 seconds and then release (the lights will flash while holding in the pinhole reset button after about 10-15 seconds) then allow 5 minutes for the router to reboot and re-sync the connection.

Re: Hub 4 1Gb - getting 129Mb

Hi thanks for the tip, I tried that, but didn't make a difference.  Just called now and they said they'd try sending a signal to see if it helps, if it doesn't then to call back.

These links you keep posting to your BQM are not working, go to your graph and click "share live graph" then copy and paste the "direct link".
