Hub 3 not recognised by app

I have succesfully had my Hub3 password scanned on the VM Connect app,but the app then cannot find a Hub. This is a Hub 3.0? Do I need an upgrade? Also , download speeds are below 20 MBps and 14  upload according to Sam Knows. Since I have been upgraded to M600, this is disappointing. My cabling has been changed 3 times, yet VM does not seem to agree that I have a problem.

Re: Hub 3 not recognised by app

Forget the app, it is next to useless, unless you are moving to the 1 Gig service a Hub upgrade isn't needed.

What speeds do you get at >> speedtest.net << with a direct connection using a Cat 5E or better ethernet cable between the Hub in Router Mode and a 1Gbs capable Pc/Mac/Chromebook and no other devices connected ?

then

Can you Login to the Hub Settings and navigate to the Connected Devices page - what is the reported 'connection speed’ for the ethernet cable connected device you used for the speed test ?

Mike

Thanks. The best figures are 14.7 DOWNLOAD  and 16.68 UPLOAD.

Ref. the second part of your answer, could you be more specific as to instructions, please?

Re: Hub 3 not recognised by app

In a web browser, type 192.168.0.1 into the URL bar and press enter.

Once the Hub GUI is up, log in then navigate to the connected devices page and report the 'Connection Speed' for the device that you used for the speed test.

Re: Hub 3 not recognised by app

54Mbs is the Wi-Fi speed for 2.4 GHz on an 802.11g device.

You need to check speeds using a Cat 5e or better ethernet cable connected device, Wi-Fi cannot be relied on due to external factors that can interfere with the Wi-Fi signals.

That is a Wi-Fi connection speed, let's start again.

Re: Hub 3 not recognised by app

Mike

Thanks for your patience.

The speedtest readings are 3.04/3.12  and the Hub speed reads 127.01.

My PC is directly connected to the Hub via a cat. 6 cable supplied by Virgin. Maybe I should buy a new cable?

Re: Hub 3 not recognised by app

Before you do that let's look at the Hub data ...

Can you please

Type 192.168.0.1 (192.168.100.1 in Modem mode) into your browser URL bar and press enter.

Hub 2 & 3 When the page appears DO NOT LOG IN but click ‘Check Router Status’.

Hub 4 When the page appears LOG IN then Advanced Settings > Tools > Network Status.

Copy and paste the contents of the Downstream, Upstream, Configuration and Network Log tabs onto here, if you get a yellow / straw box warning click the Post button again. Use one post for each tab if you wish.

Please do not use screen grabs.

A Guru will be along soon to decipher the info.
