Hub 3 and ASUS RT-AC1200G+ with 600Mbps speed package

Set up as Hub 3 in Modem mode, port 1 to Asus Router, and I just recently moved from M200 to M600 speed.

Wi-fi works fine, around 150 - 200 Mbps, I appreciate there are lots to influence it, but I went to the Asus router years ago as Hub 3 router mode wi-fi was poor.

My indication that something is amiss is in a wired Ethernet connection to my iMac via the Asus router!

When testing Hub 3 in Router mode, I get over 600Mbps on the wired connection.

With Hub 3 in modem, connected to my Router, the wired connection from the router to the iMac is about 250Mbps.  So I am assuming there should be no hindrance to me getting the same speed on the wired connection through my router, and if this indicates a problem, there may also be potential wi-fi improvements as well.

Could it be something simple as to 'factory rest' the router?  But then again you'd always want to be running the latest firmware, no?

Re: Hub 3 and ASUS RT-AC1200G+ with 600Mbps speed package

Is there something that is limiting speed from the Asus - i.e. is there some QoS (or similar) running on it - so as to partition available bandwidth between devices?

Someone with an Asu should respond on here soon. Meanwhile just mooch around in the settings and see if you spot something - as a starter...

Disconnect the Asus and connect the iMac to the hub to check speeds in modem mode. A reboot of the iMac  will be necessary.

Re: Hub 3 and ASUS RT-AC1200G+ with 600Mbps speed package

Apologies, but I don't follow. When I go to Modem mode and connect my iMac to port 1, it does not connect to the Internet! When you say reboot the iMac, do you just mean restart after connecting directly to the Hub3 as Modem?

Yes, needed to obtain the WAN IP address.

Re: Hub 3 and ASUS RT-AC1200G+ with 600Mbps speed package

How do I find the WAN IP address after I restart my Mac, and then what do I do with that information.
Thanks

You don't find the IP address, your MAC does to get onto the internet.

Re: Hub 3 and ASUS RT-AC1200G+ with 600Mbps speed package

OK, so tried that tonight. Removed the ethernet cable that was going to Asus from Hub Port 1 and Connected Ethernet for iMac to that port. Hub still in Modem mode and restarted the iMac. Does not connect to the Internet!
