High Latency, low speed on 2.4g

I am getting latency reading around 50 and speed around 70 on 2.4g but on 5g, I get latency around 30 and speed of 220. I recently split my system with separate SSID for each and everything was fine. In fact, 2.4 was behaving better but this problem started today. I have rebooted the hub to no avail. Any idea what is happening

Re: High Latency, low speed on 2.4g

2.4ghz is the slowest band but better distance. 5ghz is faster but less distance. So that all looks okay. However have you checked if the 2.4ghz channel you are using is not overcrowded?

Re: High Latency, low speed on 2.4g

No more loaded than it was on Thursday. In fact it was actually better than the 5. Latency was near enough the same on both then suddenly yesterday latency shot up and speed dropped from 200 to 60. Thanks for the reply BTW

Hi @tpmchugh

Have you tried different wifi channels?

You could do a search for an app such as wifi analyzer which tells you the strength of the channel you are connected on, and also shows other channels so you can decide if you want to change the channel number on your hub for a better connection/speed.

Re: High Latency, low speed on 2.4g

Might try that later today. Always a bit dubious about making changes since the days when my speeds dropped to 10. someone on here was able to look at my system and make remote changes and until this high latency thing, I have had a really good working router. The changes she made are still the setup I have some three years later

Re: High Latency, low speed on 2.4g

Hi tpmchugh,

Thanks for posting and sorry to hear you've had some issues with your connection.

I've been able to locate your account using your forum details, and can see that a couple of your hubs levels are out of specification.

I'll need to arrange an engineer visit for this, but I'll need to confirm a few details with you first.

I've popped you over a private message (purple envelope, top right hand corner)
