Half The Speed of M200

Hello i'm posting on behalf of my mom.

She is on the M200 package however she is only getting between 80-100 MB on speedtests. Could someone take a look at the router log and see if it's in good spec?

Re: Half The Speed of M200

Hi muffintastic,

Are the speed tests being performed using an ethernet cable or by wifi using a PC?  VM don't guarantee the wifi speed.

The speed may also be restricted by the network card, is it capable of higher then 100MB? This is often the problem with older devices.

Re: Half The Speed of M200

Tests are being performed via cat6 ethernet cable, gigabit port and nothing connected to the main router, however for some reason it's rectified itself. I would like a confirmation the specs are in reasonable range.

Re: Half The Speed of M200

Your specs don't look too bad, but I'd be concerned about the amount of errors on the line, I'd try a reboot to clear them and if the problems appear again have another look at them.

Re: Half The Speed of M200

Can you set up a Broadband Quality Monitor (BQM) at thinkbroadband.com - this will give you an insight into what is happening with the signal at the other side of the Hub, it will take a few hours to get any kind of trend showing although you should post the link straight away.

Post a link to your BQM on here.

Instructions for posting BQM Link

Under your BQM graph are two links in red.

Click the lower link (Share Live Graph) then click generate.

Copy the text in the Direct Link box, beware, there may be more text than you can see.

On here click the Link icon (2 links chain to the left of the camera icon)

In the URL box paste the link you copied and in the ‘text to display’ box write My BQM then click OK - you can post the link straight away.

I forgot to mention i am running an external router; RT-AC3200 [Asus] running on the Merlin firmware. What i'll try and do reset the Virgin router and Asus and change the WAN ethernet cable. It maybe a faulty ethernet cable to be honest, not sure, the upload seems fine, when i rum a test sometimes i get the full 200 (219) then it'll drop down and vice versa. .

Re: Half The Speed of M200

Just to note, your not alone, my speed just got halved couple hours ago and not been able to get it back up to normal speeds, also in modem mode+restarted router & modem and still got the same speed, area reference 21.

Am curious as to why it would just throttled? Had VM close to 2 years now. and haven't had an issue like that ever.
