Gig1 issue - Download speed very low

vbcustomer
On our wavelength

Morning all,

My download speed on a wired connection has recently become extremely low, hitting between 5Mbps to 100 Mbps. Please could someone kindly advise? Thank you in advance!

Are you testing speeds on ethernet cable connected devices or on wifi ones?

What upload speeds are you getting?

Only odd thing in the stats is the low power in the 3.1 channel - that might be problematic

I would suggest you do a 60 second pinhole reset on the Hub and see if it clears up

Hi John

Thank you for your reply.

I am testing on a wired connection, but WiFi is affected too by the poor download speed. Things same okay at the moment, but yesterday it was really bad. The Hub 4 went to a solid red light too.

Here is a screenshot from a test:

Call it in as a fault regarding the low power on the 3.1 channel... it should be above -6dBmV.

Also set up a BQM as per....

If you haven’t already, set up a free, secure and “offlsite” - “Broadband Quality Monitor” to continually monitor the state of your connection and record any true network dropouts , latency issues, packet drops, etc - it will thus allow you to differentiate between those and simple wifi dropouts. It does it 24/7/365 and it keeps a visual record of any/all of your network disconnections, useful data to have to match to the Network logs (in your Hub settings) and also in discussions with VM - note it will take a few hours to start seeing a sensible picture - post up the “link” to the “share live graph”. Click the lower link (Share Live Graph) then click generate. Copy the text in the Direct Link box, beware, there may be more text than you can see. On here click the Link icon (2 links chain to the left of the camera icon) In the URL box paste the link you copied and then click OK

Thank you for your kind reply John - I will get this reported regarding the power level.

Upload speed is okay, 52Mbps, but this is the download speed right now... 😞

Hi @vbcustomer

I would disregard the samknows speedtest results for now.

I checked my samknows realspeed results compared to ookla speedtest app and there is a large disparity. It looks like an issue with samknows and I've passed this info to the modteam

What results do you get if you download and use the ookla (speedtest.com) app?

Hi @newapollo / Dave

Speedtest.net appears all good, download speed is a decent amount. Things are okay now, thank you!

However as John said regarding the "low power on the 3.1 channel... it should be above -6dBmV" - should I go ahead and call the fault in ?
