Gig1 - Stable but not getting more than about 200MBit - lots of postRS!

Hi,

I've noticed in the past week or so that my connection has significantly dropped in speed. It's actually quite stable, and i've not really noticed any latecy issues. I only happened upon this issue when I idly ran a wired speed test.

Some information - note that everything has been tested directly via ethernet!

* I run the Hub 4 modem in modem only mode, connected to a Unifi Dream Machine pro.

* I 60-second reset the modem back to defaults (thus isolating the unifi equipment) and did a sam-knows test - that topped out at about 200Mbit in the tests I did.

* Physical connections have been checked, removed and re-tightened.

* I did try the think-broadband test, but it resulted in dropped packets. I guess the unifi threat management is doing its job!

* See router status in next post. Look at all those postRS errors! Even when the router stabilises after a few hours, channels 11 and 12 always have massive counts.

I think I need an engineer on this one please 🙂

Thanks!

Hi Chris,

Thanks for the message - as per my original post, I had already carried out the samknows test, which topped out around 200Mbps.

I had an engineer around today which was kindly arranged by your colleague. The problem was very clear - a very old and crispy cable underneath my lawn leading to the entry point of my house. That was replaced and I'm back at full speed.

Hi seymansey,

Thank you for reaching out to us here on the Community.

I am very sorry to hear you are experiencing issues with your broadband.

I have taken a look from our side and can see there have been some errors detected from our side.

With this being the case, we will need to investigate further. I am going to pop you over a private message now and this will be available via the purple envelope on the top right of this page.

Speak soon,

Nat

Hi seymansey, thanks for the message and sorry to hear that you are having issues with the service.

Would you be able to run a test via Sam knows and speedtest.net and let us know the results.

Kind regards

Chris

We're glad to hear that has now been resolved for you.
