Fluctuating speed

I am new customer and have a 200mb download account but keep getting buffering on tv, drop out on video calls and unstable connection.  I have done a reset and speed tests which initially show around 197mbs but quickly drop away to around 40-60mbs and sometimes lower.  Tried to connect to the router setting but it keeps saying the settings password is incorrect on my brand new box and can’t get hold of anyone at virgin?  Any suggestions?

Have you tried a pinhole reset? Hold in the pinhole at the rear of the router for at least 50 seconds and then release (the lights will flash while holding in the pinhole reset button after about 15 seconds) then allow 5 minutes for the router to reboot and re-sync the connection. After this use the Admin password at the bottom of the router (Not the WI-FI password) or on the card that came with the router to enter back into the routers settings page.

Thanks was trying to avoid having to fully reset the system as I will have to reconnect a million devices to the box again but if that is the only way to get into it.  Problem is also my neighbour says they have similar problems so not sure it will help

No worries, first things first is getting you access to the router and then we can get you to post some details from it and help diagnosing the problems you are facing. If you have not changed the default wifi password or SSID the devices should connect automatically.

Hi I have managed to reset the hub and connected to it via virgin media connect.  What do I do now?

Can you please upload your router stats

Type 192.168.0.1 or (192.168.100.1 if you have your Hub in Modem mode) into you address bar at the top of your browser

For Hubs 2 & 3 - DO NOT LOG IN, just click “Check Router Status”

For Hub 4 - When the page appears LOG IN then click on:

Advanced Settings > Tools > Network Status.

Please copy and paste the contents of the Downstream, Upstream, Configuration and Network Log tabs, if you get a yellow warning just click the Post button again. You can use more than one post for each item if needed.

If you get a warning when you hit “Post” just hit “Post” again and it should work ok!

Can you also please set up a Broadband Quality Monitor (BQM) at thinkbroadband.com.

Post a 'Live Link' to your BQM on here asap.

Under your graph you just created Click (Share Live Graph) then click generate.

Copy the text in the Direct Link box and paste it on here
