Fluctuating speed and service drop outs

I’m getting wildly fluctuating wifi - from 100mbps to just zero and dropping all together

My job is dependent on working from home now and I’m having to anchor on my phone as the service has become so unreliable and it's making my work almost impossible.

I know WiFi speeds are not guaranteed but the service fluctuates so much and drops to zero so often it’s basically unusable, especially for video/Zoom calls.

Summary:

  • I have a Superhub 3
  • All our connections are wireless/ No Ethernet connections
  • After talking to Virgin
    • I did a scan and it said there were loose connections in the house but they are all ok
    • I used the Virgin media connect app to scan the house and all good
    • Virgin then sent me a new Hub box but the issue is still there
  • I’ve been monitoring with Oolka speedtest on various devices and can see that when I have 0mg on my Macbook I’m still getting 20mg on my iphone next to it
  • When I lose connection on some devices there is still a connection on others

I have downloaded my Network logs and can see there are a lot of Errors/warnings/Criticals - could that be the cause?

Have listed them below followed by the Downstream and Upstream logs (will have to separate messages)

Does anyone have any idea?

Re: Fluctuating speed and service drop outs

Without a wired device it’s difficult to ascertain actual speeds.

However your hub stats are all over the place there and you might need an engineer visit

Re: Fluctuating speed and service drop outs

Your upstream levels are on the high side and you have Post RS Errors on every downstream channel. As you've checked your coaxial cables for tightness and you've had a hub swap I suspect an network problem and a VM tech should be sent round.

Re: Fluctuating speed and service drop outs

Thanks for that -

Confirmed my suspicions that it's a network issue - going to book an Engineer visit now

Cheers
