Kids have been complaining for a while now that internet is constantly buffering. Videos on my phone keep buffering and I have to keep switching to mobile inteenet. I dont have laptop any more to test speed but its supposed to be 100mb so obviously a problem. I cant get through to anyone to sort it out. My tv contract is also up and cant get anyone to sort new one out.
Have you checked the 'Check Service Status' at the top of the page ?
If nothing is showing try phoning 0800 561 0061, this will tell you of more local issues that may be affecting the area. Be aware that it isn't a manned line.
Go round all the accessible co-ax connections and ensure that they are finger tight.
If everything above is OK we need do some troubleshooting; to start with …
Can you set up a Broadband Quality Monitor (BQM) at thinkbroadband.com - this will give you an insight into what is happening with the signal at the other side of the Hub, it will take a few hours to get any kind of trend showing although you should post the link straight away.
Post a link to your BQM on here.
Instructions for posting BQM Link
Under your BQM graph are two links in red.
Click the lower link (Share Live Graph) then click generate.
Copy the text in the Direct Link box, beware, there may be more text than you can see.
On here click the Link icon (2 links chain to the left of the camera icon)
In the URL box paste the link you copied and in the ‘text to display’ box write My BQM then click OK - you can post the link straight away.
Can you please

Right. I have borrowed a laptop and run a few speed tests. They seem to be om as getting readings like 100 to 100mg and ping 11, whatever that means. The issue is still there though as There are four people in the house with different mobiles and all of us are struggling to use wi fi on any of the phones. Ipad the same as is ps4 etc all struggling, buffering, freezing etc so not sure whether theres a problem with the hub. Tried resetting, tried switching between 2 and 4g. Nothing seems to be working. Were that fed up after months if I can't get anything sorted we are going to give Bt a go after consideration .
Don't really understand all that mate. It was apple laptop with direct connection. Tried three different speed sites inc speedtest and all ranged between 100 and 110mb. That to me seems good! Maybe problem with wifi signal coming from modem when wireless!
The problem with Wi-Fi is that it can be brilliant at breakfast time and useless by lunchtime and you haven't changed anything, BUT, something, somewhere has changed, then you can spend hours and even days trying to find a fix for something that can be totally out of your control.
If you remove all the internal walls, electronic and electrical devices, metallic pipes and conduits and wrap the whole building in a thick lead shield you will have a good chance of getting decent Wi-Fi from a VM Hub.
Many people have accepted that the VM Wi-Fi is poor and have purchased third party equipment that is much, much more powerful than the VM supplied kit and once set up have wondered why they waited for so long.
