Faults expectancy Virgin`s FTTP

Hi,

Im with virgin just 6 days. Last 5 days BRILLIANT then this happened:

12h of big delays and speed issues. Max upload 15Mbps (not a big deal but still!)

Download speeds 20 - 140 back to 40 then whatever - UNSTABLE

Funny but the graph does not show but it was still going on in the morning until around 8am

Restarting The HUB did not help at all...

Contacted Technical department today and.... got no answer what happened and why...

How often shall I expect this?

Never had this on FTTC so I guess Im justified asking (silly question/s)

Thanks in Advance!

Tomas

Re: Faults expectancy Virgin`s FTTP

If you use the internet for any latency sensitive activities such as gaming then Virgin Media is definitely not the ISP for such activities.

I recently had a BT FTTC connection installed (800m line so I get like 40/8) and the gaming is perfect.

It is. After around 12h it`s ok. BUT as said, Im very worried as leaving Virgin even when they have technical issues is not easy task... 😭

Plus - Im connected for 5 days only(!!!)

Still got 9 days to bale out so it will be hard decision...

Im about 1.4km and because of this Virus thing I was not getting full 40/10. I was getting full 40/10 for years(!!!) at 12-13ms delays

So what I have 200Mbps download when its unstable after just few days 😒

Majority of VM is Hybrid.  Fibre to Cabinet and co-ax to house.

As for faults, just read these forums  😉

But seriously, you would be hard pressed to get any sort of conclusive answer.  For example, I've had NTL/VM for many years and I've only ever had about 3 faults that needed an engineer visit. So, personally for me it's been really good.

I have been with TalkTalk over 7 years.... I had no SINGLE DAY of ping times as had on VM after 5 days.... so it does not look good....

Im hoping there will be (just few) people saying: DO not worry, Im with Virgin over a year and no problems...

Thats it.

I have no hours(days rather) to dig on the forum.... my bad
