Error codes and low Signal to Noise Ratio

Hi,

For few days now we've noticed problems with our speed so I had a look at the network status. We have one download channel (11) with a lower SNR (26) than the rest (35-38) and a very high (in the 10's of millions) error count. The network log shows two warning (Lost MDD Timeout and RCS Partial Service) are the are being reported roughly every 5 mins and are in pairs.

I reset the router earlier today, but the low SNR is still there, the error count is still high and the warnings are still as frequent.

I performed a number wired speed test over a 9 min period. The max speed achieved was 45.5 MBs, we are signed up for 100MBs, and the lowest speed was 2.67 MBs. I have also noticed there is a correlation with the low speed timings and the warnings being reported.

I've included the Down and Upstream Bonded Chanel information and the Network Log from the router along with a photo of the speed test results. This data is all from after the router reset.

Any help with this issue will be much appreciated, but personally I think there's an error on the line and we'll need an engineer call out .

Hello

Yes there is a problem with channel 11 low signal at 24 should be over 34, I would check that all coaxial connections to all VM equipment are finger tight and also check for any damage to cables.

If the SNR isnt resolved by checking the connections then an engineer is going to be needed to resolve the issue, so either call in on 150 or wait for a VM staff member to pick up the post.

Welcome to our forums and thank you for your very detailed post. I'm really sorry that you've been having trouble with your broadband speed, we can certainly look to get this sorted for you.

 

I can also see low downstream SNR from our end, so it's likely that you'll need an engineer to resolve the fault. I'll send you a private message now to clear account security and arrange a visit.

 

It would still be worth checking your cables and connections, if this fixes the problem there's no need to reply to my message.
