Download speed slow

Hey all,

On the 500M package and getting (at best) 90MB download, upload seems OK at 50MB.

Running the speedtest via ethernet at 1gbps. Everything has been fine for 3ish years until the other day we had an outage in the area, since then speeds have been fluctuating and have not gone above 90mb (its like we are on the 100M package)

Hum 3 is in Modem Mode as I'm using Opnsense as my 'router'.

Already tried rebooting etc 🙂

Network info that may help:

Just noticed my downstream power levels look very low compared to the upload power levels?

Client62
Legend

getting (at best) 90MB - this is usually caused either by crossing a network connection that is either only capable of 10/100 Mb/s or by a faulty network cable that has de-rated a network connection from 1000Mb/s connect to 100Mb/s.

Power levels look look normal.  DS ( received ) / US ( transmitted ) power levels always differ.

Good thought, checked switch ports and they are all 1gbps on tested hosts and from Hub to Router. Also tested on multiple hosts that are connected at 1000mbps all receive the same. Download is better today at 200 - 300~mbps but still not near the 500 we normally get.

Often domestic kit is not capable of consuming data any faster.

Speed test the service to a Router mode Hub(3/4/5) + your device with the link below.
https://www.samknows.com/realspeed/

Once the test begins click on: Run full test to see all the stats.

The speed at the Hub should reflect your subscription.
The speed any device draws data at is limited by its data needs and technical abilities.

Hi Externo6,

Thanks for using the Community Forums to get this issue with your connection looked into, I am sorry if this has been causing some frustration 😥

I have checked your services on my side just to check for any major issues, however everything seems okay on our side in terms of your Hub stats and channels.

Can I just ask if you have your Hub in Modem Mode and connected to 3rd party equipment please?

Sometimes this stops your Hub from communicating with our systems, so we don't see a full breakdown of your services.

Please let me know 😊

Thanks,

Megan_L
