Disgraceful service

Does anyone else pay for top class speed and not receive it?

I’m on the 500Mb package and am lucky to get 3Mb download speeds.

I’ve tried customer services who offered me a guarantee package at £8 extra per month; I have rebooted the hub several times to no avail.

Can anyone share the secret to getting at least half of what you pay for?

WiFi is generally pretty weak from VM hubs but even then that's a slow speed.

Post your hub stats (192.168.0.100) here and we can check them. Also check for local faults on 0800 561 0061.

What does this site show?

Hey thanks for replying - that IP doesn’t load?

Hey Carl, it’s showing the hub download above 500Mbps but device only 1.62Mbps

So either your device is at fault or your router is faulty.

What device is it? (Wired / wireless / over a powerline adatper).

Hi @SteveB82 👋 Thank you for your posts 😀

We're sorry to hear about the problem you're experiencing 😔

Are you able to confirm what device you're referring to? Advice on how to fix slow internet speeds can be found here

Please pop back to us whenever you're ready.

Thank you for your support @Cardiffman282 and @carl_pearce 👍

It’s multiple devices, phone, laptop, smart doorbell - I got through to someone at VM though and they have arranged for an engineer to come and take a look

Hopefully a faulty HUB else you'll be charged for the visit!

When I was a Virgin Media customer yes, I never got anywhere near my package speeds

Ever since I moved ISP's I've gotten my package speed 24/7, 365 and latency in gaming is fantastic.

Please for the love of god do not fall for this, they can't guarantee you the speeds which is why internet packages are listed as "up to".

Network capacity, ageing infrastructure and other things will always go against you on VM services.

The sales team are just trying to extort extra money from you by offering you something they know they cannot provide to residential customers.

Only way to get guaranteed speeds and uncontended bandwidth is a leased line.

Leased lines can cost thousands just for the installation and cost a lot more per month than a standard residential connection.

Virgin charges £270 per month for a 100/100 leased line and £550 a month for 1GB/1GB.

Left Virgin Media in 2020 after being fobbed off one too many times about over utilisation.

Now: BT FTTP 900/110 connected an ASUS RT-AC86U router.
