Connectivity issues to some sites today

Hi all,

I've been experiencing issues today with my connection from around 10am. Ran the tests and showed all was fine, I did a speedtest at speedtest.net and got the right speed. I had a remote connection which kept dropping, a few other websites including GMail kept reporting there was no connection and downdetector wouldn't load the images on the page and wouldn't load correctly. The connection has been generally unreliable all day. I did a reboot of my Hub and router and it was ok for a little bit but then played up again so around 11:45 I took the power out of my Hub for about 3 minutes and although there have been some connection performance issues since I'm still having issues with Gmail and downdetector still won't load properly.

Re: Connectivity issues to some sites today

Have you checked the 'Check Service Status' at the top of the page ?

If nothing is showing try phoning 0800 561 0061, this will tell you of more local issues that may be affecting the area. Be aware that it isn't a manned line.

Go round all the accessible co-ax connections and ensure that they are finger tight.

If everything above is OK we need do some troubleshooting; to start with …

Can you set up a Broadband Quality Monitor (BQM) at thinkbroadband.com - this will give you an insight into what is happening with the signal at the other side of the Hub, it will take a few hours to get any kind of trend showing although you can post the link straight away.

Post a link to your BQM on here.

Instructions for posting BQM Link

Under your BQM graph are two links in red.

Click the lower link (Share Live Graph) then click generate.

Copy the text in the Direct Link box, beware, there may be more text than you can see.

On here click the Link icon (2 links chain to the left of the camera icon)

In the URL box paste the link you copied and then click OK - you can post the link straight away.

Then

Can you please

Type 192.168.0.1 (192.168.100.1 in Modem mode) into your browser URL bar and press enter.

When the page appears DO NOT LOG IN but click ‘Check Router Status’.

Copy and paste the contents of the Downstream, Upstream and Network Log tabs onto here, if you get a yellow warning click the Post button again.

A Guru will be along soon to decipher the info.

Re: Connectivity issues to some sites today

Hi Mike,

Many thanks for the indepth response. Details below, another annoyance that started today is many websites now asking me to confirm I'm not a robot and select images etc. for cloudflare etc. happening with hotukdeals, downdetector and also the thinkbroadband site. It's getting annoying having to keep selecting pictures of planes, cars etc.

I did check the service status page and it said there weren't any issues, I just called the status line and it said the same.

Checked all connections, nothing had changed there anyway.

Re: Connectivity issues to some sites today

I don't seem to get the cloud flare I am not a robot pages today (was getting them on all devices yesterday).

My google home mini is still saying it can't connect to the internet and on hotukdeals and down detector websites many images aren't loading. This is happening on my phone and on my laptop.

I've taken the power out of my hub for 10 minutes as well as my router and have also unplugged my google home mini and still keeps saying it can't connect to the internet?

My speed test results are as expected.

this is an example of how I'm having problems with some websites still. The above two screenshots were on my phone. I tried two different browsers on my phone including one that I hadn't loaded hotukdeals on and both failed to load the images. I switched from my Virgin connection to my 4G and refreshed the page and all the images loaded fine which is the 2nd screenshot.

Re: Connectivity issues to some sites today

Just tried those sites again this morning and they seem ok again 🙂

Looks like something was fixed overnight.
