VM are Monitoring 1gb speeds.
I'm using 2nd Ax router as my TP Link almost fried after reaching Personal best 926gps.
Since seen 970mbps using Netgear Nightwak 1800.
Not often enough, averaging 200mbps via Ethernet/Wifi.
Is it advisable to replace one of two Ethernet Cables, one is Cat 6 the other is Cat 5.
thanks

Cat5 is only capable of 10/100 (100Mbps).
Cat5e is suitable for 1Gbps.
Cat6 is suitable for 10Gbps, depending on cable length.
So yes, if you are actually using Cat5 you should upgrade to Cat5e or Cat6.

That's one Cat5 to replace today, worth a try for 1gb.
Thanks appreciated.

Get Cat6a - it has better specs on shielding from crosstalk and electrical/radio interference.

Cat6a would make zero difference in domestic setting unless over a large distance but even then cat6 would suffice.
If it's costing the same then fair enough but no point paying more unless you know why you need it and if you don't know then you probably don't need it 😁

It's not all about speed - as you say it wont affect speed... but they will give greater protection from crosstalk interference at the connectors and from other electrical equipment close by.

I definitely agree about the shielding but again in domestic use you would probably notice zero difference under 50m

I went 5e as unable to purchase cat 6 on the day.
No immediate improvement, though rules out last piece I can check.
Allowing VM to continue up to 30 days.
Just seems when I was hitting 900's range, it's then <300 continuous.
off topic trying VM Mobile soon, is it run completely via o2 network.
thanks

Hi Donfor40,
Thanks for your post and it's great having you posting back in the forums.
We're sorry to hear that you're having issues with your speeds.
I've checked things this end and all power and signal levels are within optimal range. There are no faults in the area affecting you either.
Since updating the ethernet cable, have you had better speeds?
Pop back and let us know how things go.
Thanks,
