Broadband - slow speeds

Hi, Despite repeatedly rebooting/resetting router & cleaning up my laptop my max BB speed even with an Ethernet cable connection is 60 mbs across the day. With Wi-Fi, it is typically half this figure. Router is old - is this the problem? Rgds

thanks, but apparently my upgrade cannot be sorted online and I have to phone 0345 454 1111.  Ha Ha.  No chance, can never get through.

Any alternatives?

Well, it's good news and bad news.  Hub arrived within 24 hrs and setup went fine.  Unfortunately, speeds no better:  Using a range of online tests (incl Ookla)

  • with most, can't get a stable connection to run the test
  • when they run, download speeds 20 - 40 mbps, one reached 60 mbps.

Connection speeds to most websites I use are poor too,

It never used to be like this when on a good day I'd get 100+ mbps & I use exactly the same devices as I did then.

What next?

Lets have a look at your connection stats first:

Open http://192.168.0.1/ or http://192.168.100.1/ (if you have your Hub in Modem mode) in your browser

For Hubs 2 & 3 - DO NOT LOG IN, just click “Check Router Status”

For Hub 4 - When the page appears LOG IN then click on: Advanced Settings > Tools > Network Status.

Please copy and paste the contents of the Downstream, Upstream, Configuration and Network Log tabs in replies here.

If this is your first time you may have to do first setup of hub password.
