Bad Download Speeds

Hi guys & girls,

Currently have Virgin as my Broadband/Telephone and TV provider.

Signed up to M350 Fibre Broadband, simply because it's a busy household here ! LOL

My speeds though have been slowly deteriorating by day over last 2 weeks or so.

Just ran speed test from Ookla, results below..and this is by ethernet cable NOT wi-fi!

Obviously, speeds do dip at times but not by THAT much !!

AND to make it worse, there is only myself and partner currently using broadband,so hardly anything to slow it down like this ..Ookla Results.jpg

Re: Bad Download Speeds

Have you tried a new Cat5e/6 cable? Old ones can fail and limit speeds to <100Mbps. Also see what the NIC card is reporting in its settings as connection speed? Is it showing 1GB or dropped to 100Mbps? Are the NIC drivers up to date? if all looks fine do it this way in modem mode...

As you expect >100Mbps then connect a 1GB enabled computer/laptop, with up to date drivers, via a known good and working Cat5e (or better) ethernet cable, directly to the Hub which you have put into “modem mode” (see VM website for “How To”). Test at (not using their App!) to your nearest VM server - try on 2 different browsers.

If they are still low – boot the device into windows safe+networking mode and try again.

There are many posts on here where unknown/flaky software, old network card drivers, corrupted browsers, bad cables or other connected devices are limiting speeds on tests.

Report back what that gets.

I do not work for VM. My services: HD TV on VIP (+ Sky Sports & Movies & BT sport), x3 V6 boxes (1 wired 2 WiFi,) SH2 in modem mode with Airport Extreme Router +2 Airport Express's. On VIVID200, Talk Anytime Phone, x2 Mobile SIM only iPhones.
