Area 31 Ping spikes / packet loss / timeouts

Hi everyone,

For the last 3 weeks I've been seeing a lot slow connection and internet calls dropping. When I ping google.com I tend to see the ping spiking or timing out on both my wireless and wired connections. It has been tolerable and normally I have restarted the router about 3 times a day. Last night and today the regularity has increased and restarting router hasn't helped, which leads me to think it's a service fault and not a router.

I am in Area 31 (Cambridge) but I know other people here with Virgin broadband and they are not having the same issues.

I had a similar issue some time ago and an engineer came. He mentioned something about something wrong with an amplifier but I don't recall the details.

I can't seem to get in contact with anyone to help, so your help here will be very appreciated.

Here's all my info this morning:

Re: Area 31 Ping spikes / packet loss / timeouts

Also I don't know if this is any help but there is a Forward Path Attenuator of 6 dB on the line installed by an engineer some time ago.
