Another poor connection.

Hello fellow sufferers.

Since about a week ago, i have been having massive latency spikes, and poor download performance. Looks like to me an issue between my router and the next hop on the local tranist network before hitting the core VM network.

very typical overutilisation graph. 

options, unfortunately, are limited... see this post from @andruser for both an educated estimation on why the issues exist + details of possible next steps..

Yup I agree with you.

and I expect they will do sod all about it, as why would they, covid wont last for ever, and they will be hoping traffic drops off like you say.

I will ask VM to look at it - but looks like a classic OU issue. See Andrusers comments on that

I do not work for VM. My services: HD TV on VIP (+ Sky Sports & Movies & BT sport), x3 V6 boxes (1 wired 2 WiFi,) SH2 in modem mode with Airport Extreme Router +2 Airport Express's. On VIVID200, Talk Anytime Phone, x2 Mobile SIM only iPhones.

I am sorry to hear of the broadband issues. I've seen from checking the system, you've spoke to the team since posting and have a technician visit out. Currently this is not a congestion issue.

Hey John, 

Yes managed to get through to someone which is good, and an engineer is expected tomorrow. Apparently its not a congestion issue, but the guy on the phone didnt actually inform me as to the actual problem. are you able to shed some light?

Mmmm... report back what the Tech says, as three of us on here think its a classic OU issue. Look at the way it all goes pear shaped at ~9am when the lockdown masses connect and doesnt go back to "normality" until ~midnight.

If VM say it isn't then make sure you get an official statement from the Tech as to what the fault (as there is one!) actually is.

So tech came out, did his tests, no noise on the line, everything looks good in the house.

Over the weekend, no issues, nice smooth usage, then monday morning, not too bad, monday afternoon and evening right back to packet loss and silly latency. Then again today.

Technician couldnt get a ticket number for the capacity problem in the area, apparently this inst given out to customers.

I shall ring again....
