I used to easily get 500mbps and would sometimes peak into 600mpbs and now for the past 2 weeks I've only been getting 80mbps with no changes since I first got the router.

On what device ? Connected on wifi or ethernet? If ethernet then the cable may have failed and defaulted to 10/100. Or the Network card may have done the same - check in network settings.

If wifi - a shift from connecting on 5GHz to 2.4GHz would result in that speed drop - so can you check that?

I do not work for VM. My services: HD TV on VIP (+ Sky Sports & Movies & BT sport), x3 V6 boxes (1 wired, 2 on WiFi) Hub5 in modem mode with Apple Airport Extreme Router +2 Airport Express's & TP-Link Archer C64 WAP. On Volt 350Mbps, Talk Anytime Phone, x2 Mobile SIM only iPhones.

ethernet to my desktop and the cable isnt the problem as i used a brand new cat6 cable and the same thing happened

Funny you mention this as I was looking over my samknows whitebox data and can see my speeds have dropped since two weeks now, from 550Mbps to around 178 - 200. No clue why but I was about to post when I saw this one.

It varies my end, what I don't get is that speedtest.net is showing 550Mbps and that all the samknows tests are slower or vary from one second to the next. For me this started when there was a power cut (although my kit stayed on for a little while due to a UPS, but then went off as the powercut lasted hours.

Can you check speeds like this to see what VM are delivering to the Hub
_____________________________________________________________

As you expect >100Mbps then connect a 1GB enabled computer/laptop, with up to date drivers, via a NEW and working Cat5e/6a ethernet cable, directly to the Hub which you have put into “modem mode”

This ensures that NO other devices are connected

Test speeds at https://speedtest.samknows.com/ - try on 2 different browsers as Chrome sometimes gives odd results.

If they are still low – boot your device into Windows safe+networking mode - to disable any potentially interfering software - and try again.

There are many posts on here (I have a list of ~30!) where QoS software, anti-virus, unknown/flaky software, old network card drivers, corrupted browsers, bad cables or other connected devices are limiting speeds on tests.

Report back what that gets. For examples of why... see message 7 in the first thread and 9 in in the second and 3 in the third
