500mb speed issue

i have been having alot of speed issues. i'm on 500Mb but i'm getting between 90Mb to 200Mb ~.. i think my area is starting to get high utilization as the speed is getting worse. can one of the mods look in to this please.

i'm using a cat6 cable.

when i first got the 500Mb i had no issues, i was getting over 550Mb

Re: 500mb speed issue

Your downstream channel powers level aren't very consistent. One channel is at +1.2 and another is -6.2, which is out of spec (-6 to +10 is in spec).

There appears to be a large number of errors as well, which could be considered high depending on how long your HUB has been on since the last reboot.

i think it's been about 2 to 3 weeks since i last rebooted it..

so do you think the power needs to be looked at?

Re: 500mb speed issue

Well at least one channel is out of spec.

VM can check from their side whether they agree an engineer visit is required.

Hi gareth170,

Thank you for reaching out to us in our community, I am sorry to see your having issues with your speed.

I have had a look our end and can see your levels look much better, I cannot see any issues at all.

Kind regards

Paul.

Re: 500mb speed issue

hi

well i'm still getting very poor speeds between 90-190Mb~

i've been here before about 5 years ago and it took virgin a year to admit there was a high utilization issue in the area and it took 2 years to get it fixed..

Re: 500mb speed issue

As you are testing on ethernet can you try it this way if you havent.

Connect the ethernet cable, directly to the Hub which you have put into “modem mode”. Test at speedtest.net (not the App!) to your nearest VM server - try on 2 different browsers.

If they are still low – boot the device into safe+networking mode and try again.

There are many posts on here where unknown software, corrupted browsers or other connected devices are limiting speeds on tests.

Report back what that gets.

I do not work for VM. My services: HD TV on VIP (+ Sky Sports & Movies & BT sport), x3 V6 boxes (1 wired 2 WiFi,) SH2 in modem mode with Airport Extreme Router +2 Airport Express's. On VIVID200, Talk Anytime Phone, x2 Mobile SIM only iPhones.
