35mb download on M350 Fibre Broadband

This has dropped over the past week from 100mb to 35mb, it's getting worse not better. I should be in excess of 350mb.

I can't get through on the phone to report, what can be done on here ? I've dumped the hub info below....what's wrong ?

Re: 35mb download on M350 Fibre Broadband

If you think that you have a BB speed problem, then to check the speeds coming in to your Hub properly, and whether they match what you should be getting, you cannot rely on wifi tests, - no BB supplier guarantees those - only speeds "TO" the Hub are guaranteed.

So, can you test speeds directly like this. As you expect >100Mbps then connect a 1GB enabled computer/laptop, with up to date drivers, via a known good and working Cat5e (or better) ethernet cable, directly to the Hub which you have put into “modem mode”. Test at speedtest.net (not the App!) to your nearest VM server - try on 2 different browsers.

If they are still low – boot the device into safe+networking mode and try again.

There are many posts on here where unknown software, corrupted browsers or other connected devices are limiting speeds on tests.

Report back what that gets.

Re: 35mb download on M350 Fibre Broadband

I've ran the test on two different laptop devices (ethernet connected and modem mode), using safe mode and normal along with two different browsers, chrome and internet explorer.

The worst is 35mb the best is 102mb, each test fluctuates between these bookends. The upload remains around 34-36mb each time. ping is 28 to 30ms

The reason I have checked the speed is that multiple devices, wired or wifi, are suffering at anytime of the day.

Re: 35mb download on M350 Fibre Broadband

The power levels on some of your downstream channels are in the upper limits (-6 to +10 is within spec, 0 is considered 'optimal').

I can't see much else to be concerned about, well the 'No Ranging Response received - T3 time-out' errors, however they could be related to the power levels.

Re: 35mb download on M350 Fibre Broadband

Thanks for the post Louisebattersby.

I'll pop you over a private message so we can confirm the power level errors and book an engineer appointment if needed.

Thanks, Emily.
