Resurrected my old Windows 7 laptop that I can get to work only in Safe mode. Broadband speed tests are very much faster with old laptop, up to 65 mbs, but with upload speeds not much changed.
New laptop is dual core Lenovo running Ubuntu 20.04.

There are many more config statements but would run into several pages.
Will get a type6 ethernet cable tomorrow and retry wired speeds and advise.
