200mbps still slow after engineer visit

This is the second time I have posted. I've been experiencing slow broadband speeds again even after an engineer came out to fix it who said he could see the problem. Yesterday I lost wireless internet for 3 hours after trying to reboot my router to factory settings (i could connect through ethernet cable) and was on the phone on hold trying to contact virgin help for in total about 2 hours. Somehow it miraculous was fixed and I got speeds of over 200 again only for it to drop again to about 30 after about 30 minutes. I've tested through my ethernet connection and speeds are only slightly better than wireless. It's frustrating as I am now paying more money on my new contract for less services and quite frankly a worse service as Virgin have such terrible deals for their loyal customers!

Please can someone fix this issue. I'm fed up on being on hold on the phone to your customer services. I appreciate due to covid a number of customer service centres are closed but in a time when people need internet to work from home reliably you'd think a company as big as virgin could do a little better.

Here are my network diagnostics.

Sorry should have clarified. The engineer did believe he had fixed the issue but evidently not.

One of your upstream channels is out of spec so, as you say, there is still evidence of an issue:

Re: 200mbps still slow after engineer visit

Hi katucker,

Thanks for posting. My apologies for the delayed reply and the slower than normal speeds.

I've checked the systems today and everything seems fine, all the levels in spec etc. I do hope everything is fixed.

Please do let me know if you still need further assistance.

Kind regards,

Re: 200mbps still slow after engineer visit

HI John,

I'm sorry but no this isn't fixed. I am now only getting around 20 now and this is the problem. My internet continues to fluctuate, only very occasionally and when I reset my router do I ever get anything near the 200 I pay for. Carl has even responded confirming that some my upstream channels are out of spec so, as you say, there is still evidence of an issue. I've already had an engineer out once to fix this issue but obviously it's not fixed. Please send someone else out to look into this. This has been going on for months now and it's not great service.

Thanks, Kate

Re: 200mbps still slow after engineer visit

What speeds do you get at >> speedtest.net << with a direct connection using a Cat 5E or better ethernet cable between the Hub in Router Mode and a 1Gbs capable Pc/Mac/Chromebook and no other devices connected ?
