200Mbps contract - 70 at best commonly between 5-10Mbps

Hi,

Recently, like the past month been seeing some really poor quality connections over Wired and Wifi devices, often when there are only 1 or 2 active devices.

The virgin Media account stats I have an average speed of 213Mbps. And this was true once... over wifi as well. But not for a while.

Last night I was getting 20mbps at best wired 5 or 6 wireless. step up today while Im writing this and getting 70-85.

Re: 200Mbps contract - 70 at best commonly between 5-10Mbps

Can you set up a Broadband Quality Monitor (BQM) at thinkbroadband.com - this will give you an insight into what is happening with the signal at the other side of the Hub, it will take a few hours to get any kind of trend showing although you should post the link straight away.

Post a 'Live Link' to your BQM on here.

Instructions for posting BQM Link

Under your BQM graph are two links in red.

Click the lower link (Share Live Graph) then click generate.

Copy the text in the Direct Link box, beware, there may be more text than you can see.

On here click the Link icon (2 links chain to the left of the camera icon)

In the URL box paste the link you copied and in the ‘text to display’ box write My BQM then click OK - you can post the link straight away.

Re: 200Mbps contract - 70 at best commonly between 5-10Mbps

Your Pre & Post RS Error counts are quite high.

In an ideal world they would be at zero and stay there. To zero them can you reboot the Hub using this method and then keep an eye on the counts.

Switch the Hub off using the small switch on the rear of the Hub next to the power cord and pull the PSU plug from the wall socket.

Give it a good 5 minutes put the plug back in and switch the Hub back on.

Allow the Hub a few minutes to fully restart then check the counts again in an hour or so.

Cheers, I've set up a BQM account hopefully I will find a bit of time for the reboot method you've ve stated and be able post both later this evening.

Thanks.

Re: 200Mbps contract - 70 at best commonly between 5-10Mbps

Can you Login to the Hub Settings and navigate to the Connected Devices page - what is the reported 'connection speed’ for the ethernet cable connected device you used for the speed test ?
