200MB Slow Speed

Over the last few days my internet speeds appear to have fallen off a cliff. Previously with a Hub2 ac I had issues every few days which could be fixed with a reboot. However around a month ago took up the option of free upgrade to the Hub3. Since moving to the Hub3 I've had no issues until the last 2 days where loading files for work is extremely slow, streaming video on iPlayer / Prime video results in constant buffering and low picture quality.

Checked the online problem checker but this just says my kit is online and no issues in the local area. Speeds tests over wifi showing around 10-15Mb/s Down and 20-21Mb/s up. Connected via cat6 the download improves to around 30Mb/s

The Hub3 is in modem mode connected to my own switch and access point. Any chance someone can looks at the Hub stats to see if something looks wrong?

Re: 200MB Slow Speed

Couldn't fit all the details in the original post....

The critical warnings in the network log are from when I was checking connections on the coax cable from the entry point into the house to the Hub3 and don't appear to be a constant occurrence. RCS partial service does seem to crop up every few days though.

Re: 200MB Slow Speed

If you've been remaking the connections (quite reasonably) then the hub's log won't provide much useful information for that time period.  If you're STILL seeing frequent RCS Partial service, T3 timeouts and synchronisation errors, that's evidence of a problem of some sort, but at the moment most of the hub's figures look OK - as they normally would after a restart.

The breakthrough of post-RS errors early after a restart on channel 2 is a bit of a worry.  I'd suggest waiting until the connection feels slow and lumpy, then check the same data again, in particular Downstream and Upstream, but don't restart the hub before you do that as it clears the error counters and will force the hub to renegotiate any problem channels which can disguise a deeper problem.

Re: 200MB Slow Speed

Strangely what I found yesterday is after rebooting the Hub the connection would get even worse (0.03Mb/s down but up still perfectly fine). Only way to get it to recover to 10Mb/s ish would be to give the coax a dirty disconnect and reconnect which would then get speeds back to around 15Mb/s. Hence all the critical warnings in the log, did think it would be useless including those logs but thought i'd be up front about why they're there.

The speed today even though improved is still a long way off what I'm used to getting so this is still a bumpy time to capture these details right?

Re: 200MB Slow Speed

Didn't need to wait for too long for it to turn dreadful again, back down to 0.36Mb/s over wifi.

Re: 200MB Slow Speed

Have you tried removing your own equipment and connecting to the hub directly to test speeds?

Re: 200MB Slow Speed

Cheers Gary

Turned Hub back into router mode and unplugged all my stuff.

Back to normalish (for peak time) speeds. Now for the fun part of working out what's wrong on the LAN.
