1gb order only getting 18mbps

Just signed upto the 1gb, connection bundle, however I'm only getting 10mb - 60mb on all devises and the gaming consol is connected via Cat5 cable directly into the router, but only getting 18mbps download on speed tests.

Yes 1gb is divided between devises, but I'm not even getting over 100mbps on any device.

Hi @Meggy13,

Welcome to our Community Forums and thanks for your post.

I am sorry to hear you're having some issues with speeds.

I'm going to pop you a PM now so I can locate your account and we can take it from there 🙂

Re: 1gb order only getting 18mbps

Can you test speeds directly like this. As you expect >100Mbps then connect a 1GB enabled computer/laptop, with up to date drivers, via a NEW and working Cat5e/6a ethernet cable, directly to the Hub which you have put into “modem mode”

This ensures that NO other devices are connected

Test speeds at https://speedtest.samknows.com/ - try on 2 different browsers.

If they are still low – boot your device into Windows safe+networking mode - to disable any potentially interfering software - and try again.

There are many posts on here (I have a list of ~30!) where QoS software, unknown/flaky software, old network card drivers, corrupted browsers, bad cables or other connected devices are limiting speeds on tests.

Report back what that gets.

Re: 1gb order only getting 18mbps

Thanks for confirming the requested details via PM @Meggy13,

I've taken a look at our systems and can see your downstream signal levels are out of specification. This isn't something we can fix remotely so I have

booked a technician for you to come out and adjust these. You can find confirmation of the visit via your online account. Please let me know if there are any problems with the date or time and I can look to reschedule this for you. In regards to the appointment there are some details you need to know about. There will be no charge for this visit unless:

•The technician diagnoses the faults as not being caused by our network/equipment
•The technician discovers that the fault or problem relates to your equipment
•The technician discovers that the fault or problem relates to any system that we are not responsible for

The technician will confirm during their visit if any of these instances apply, and if so, a £25 charge will be applied to your account.

Please ensure there is someone over the age of 18 present at the time of the visit. If you need to change or cancel your appointment you can also do this online or via the MyVM app by 4pm the day before the appointment.

If you do miss an agreed appointment for any reason, a £25 missed appointment charge will be applied to your account on the day of the appointment.

Let us know how the visit goes!

Re: 1gb order only getting 18mbps

HI Meggy13, thanks for the message and sorry to hear about the connection issues. I have looked at our systems and cannot see anything which would be preventing this. Would you be able to confirm if you are still having the same issue or has this since been resolved? ^Chris
