1gb broadband taking 6 hours to download 12gb?

davemcintyre
Tuning in

1gb Broadband (Wi-Fi) speed is reading circa 300-400 at device which is ok but in reality it’s taking 6 hours to download 12gb update or longer for games. I moved from bt 500 fibre service where I was able to download games in 15 mins. Totally confused as the Wi-Fi readings seem fine but actual downloads are like using 56k speeds. Anyone had similar experiences? New customer to virgin for 4 weeks or so

Hey davemcintyre, thank you for reaching out and a warm welcome to the community, I am sorry to see you are having some downloading issues.

I have taken a look from our side and everything is running as it should be the levels are very healthy.

Is there any chance you could use a cable to download games on? Thanks

New around here?

Hi

thanks for looking into the issue. Unfortunately due to router location it’s not feasible to run a cable to the games console. I have no idea why download speed is so slow - the Wi-Fi reading at the device is good. It’s not the device cause same thing is happening on Mac.

David

Thanks for coming back to us @davemcintyre, and a very warm welcome to you.

What Wi-Fi speeds do you get on devices over Wi-Fi when in the same room as the router?

Do you have the ability to perform any wired speed tests also?

Kindest regards,
