Have you tried a speedtest using http://www.dslreports.com/speedtest (rather than speedtest.net)?

Also worth rebooting your PC just before you try it to make sure nothing else is using some resources.

safe mode with networking would be better probably.

Re: 1GB fibre but not getiing 1GB

ok so here are the results

PC booted as normal, but with AV and stuff disabled

http://www.dslreports.com/speedtest/55866200

PC in safe mode with network

http://www.dslreports.com/speedtest/55865902

So there is something slowing it down it would seem

Re: 1GB fibre but not getiing 1GB

I have tried it without AV, taking off any network software installed with lan drivers just incase and still seems to be the same, the fact in safe mode I hit 950+ means it has to be something driver related or software.

Just need to work out which, it has been 3 years I think since last install so its due a clean install

Thank for all the suggestions you have been very helpful

Re: 1GB fibre but not getiing 1GB

Have you tried TOTALLY resetting the Network stack?

If this is Win 10 I would wait a short while longer on 1909.

Re: 1GB fibre but not getiing 1GB

Hi jhuk

I had not done a full reset, I have now.

last test I'm getting around 700

Yea will wait for windows update before doing a reinstall if a clean install does help, but not done a test install yet

Re: 1GB fibre but not getiing 1GB

An update

I it would seem it was a network card driver causing the slow down.  I tried an older driver, gave better speed but more buffering on the connection, on newest dirver was the other was slower speed less buffering.  As my network adaptors are built on, and my motherboard is old the drivers I could get where not that new.

I bought a cheap £10 TP-Link network card, and that is running find with 950 down when I know someone was watching Netflix. So I did not need a reinstall it was just bad drivers for my motherboards network adaptors.

I will run test again when no one else is using internet, but seems better
