150mb on 350mb package wired ethernet connection direct to router

I have been getting this issue for ages now. I still believe there is a fault with something. Speedtests show half of the speed that I should be getting. I never used to get this issue. Technical support tried everything from restarting, new router, cat6 cable, checking my hardware ect. Nothing has fixed the issue.

My hardware is connected PC gigabit ethernet direct to router.

Re: 150mb on 350mb package wired ethernet connection direct to router

Your upstream channels have all dropped to 16 QAM - now that might be normal for your area if the kit hasn't been upgraded but if you say it used to be OK plus the errors in the logs would indicate that you have an upstream noise (interference) ingress issue. Check all the cable connections are tight but I suspect you'll need an engineer visit to check everything.

Re: 150mb on 350mb package wired ethernet connection direct to router

Power levels good, SNR good, errors levels OK, but your upstream is dropping back to 16 QAM, and that suggests a line quality problem, even though your speed test shows a full speed upstream performance.  Wait for the forum staff to take a look, and see what they can do, but I suspect you may need a technician visit.  In the meanwhile check that the connections from the hub to the wall box are full secure.

Due to the exceptionally complex nature of DOCSIS, an upstream indicated problem can affect downstream measured performance, and vice versa.

Re: 150mb on 350mb package wired ethernet connection direct to router

Thanks for reply both.

I have checked the cable from the router to the connection box and that cable is a push in connection and it is a tight fit and secure.

Re: 150mb on 350mb package wired ethernet connection direct to router

Hi vm2817, thanks for posting and welcome to the community. I am sorry about the lower than expected speeds.

I've ran a check on the area and your connection and no issues are showing. However, I can see the router has not been rebooted or reset for 20 days. Can you try this for me, and then do a wired speedtest on a non-console device, at speedtest.net with only that device connected to the internet?

Kind regards,

John_GS

Re: 150mb on 350mb package wired ethernet connection direct to router

Just checked all the cables to the wall and all tight to the connectors. The cable setup has not changed since I moved in.

Re: 150mb on 350mb package wired ethernet connection direct to router

Good Morning vm2817,

Thanks for your post on our Community Forums and a very warm welcome to you!

Are you able to try and resend the images you attempted to send at 7:10pm last night as these failed to come to through to us on the forum?

I suspect this was of a wired speed test after the router was rebooted or reset.

Kindest regards,

David
