Re: portmapper vulnerability

Thanks, these are the emails below:

Please take action now: your home devices could be at risk

We have been alerted on
four separate occasions a device connected to your home network has been identified as having a potential Portmapper vulnerability.

A Portmapper vulnerability is a security issue whereby a 3rd party can use this protocol to gain unauthorised access to your network/devices for malicious purposes. If a 3rd party has
access to your network/devices they will be able to perform a Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack.

It is therefore important that you follow the advice in this letter.

What has happened?

We suspect the device may have been misconfigured by you, someone in your household or without your knowledge. If the settings are left unchanged they can be exploited to unwittingly
participate in malicious activities, for example a Distributed Denial ofService (DDoS) attack.

Re: portmapper vulnerability

Thanks for coming back to us metalguru,

Sorry to hear you have followed the instructions of how to make your network more secure but are still receiving these emails.

What happens once you have logged in to your online account and visited the App? Do you get any message to say your network details have been updated?

Kind regards Jodi

Re: portmapper vulnerability

If someone could advise on how to add a rule to forward port 111 on a Hub 3 that might help? Or not?

Re: portmapper vulnerability

Sorry for the confusion metalguru,

By App I meant have you registered for web safe. If you are looking to port forward you can do this by following the instructions here

Re: portmapper vulnerability

Yeah I set up web safe after the 3rd email, but received a 4th today. Might need a bit of help with the terminology for port forwarding and what to put where.
